Sept 30th is now the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is based on
Orange Shirt Day created by Phyllis Webstad who bravely shared her story of residential school survival.

Today our offices will be open as we were fully booked when this federal day came into being and we did not want to deny anyone their care. We acknowledge this important day and do not want it to pass as any other day.

There is important work for us all to do individually and as a nation as we move forward learning truths, listening to indigenous voices and starting a path forward to reconciliation with understanding, respect and empathy.

The air in our main operatory is cleaned by Surgically Clean Air's JADE SCA5000C medical-grade air purifier. It uses an ultrafine HEPA-Rx filter, an activated carbon filter, germicidal UV-C+ light, and other technology to sterilize the air every 6 minutes.

We have reopened and are eager to welcome back our patients. Please note that all previously scheduled appointments have been cancelled. We are prioritizing patients requiring emergency and urgent care, including those who have been in contact with Dr. Bridge and Dr. Turner during the shutdown. For patients who had an appointment cancelled due to the closure, please wait to be contacted by the office about your next appointment date. Unless you are suffering an emergency, we kindly ask that you do not call the office about an appointment that you had that was affected by this closure. Due to limited spaces, we are unable to accept new patients at this time.

The office may look a little different when you come to your dental appointment and weโ€™d like to let you know what to expect. Please familiarize yourself with our new procedures by visiting our website, dramandabridge.ca. This information includes protocol changes and a health questionnaire that you will be required to answer prior to your appointment.

Dear Patients and families,

We appreciate your patience during these extraordinary times. Due to new safety protocols and an ongoing shortage of essential personal protective equipment (PPE) we remain closed until further notice. We know that many of you have pressing oral healthcare requirements and we are working to re-open in a safe and timely manner. If you have a dental emergency please call our office at 250-384-4260 and you will be directed to phone the dentist on call. Emergencies requiring immediate treatment will be referred out. For lengthy phone consults, patient referrals, and providing prescriptions there may be a tele-dentistry fee of up to $75.

On May 13, 2020, Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Dr. Bonnie Henry stated:
"Direction is going to be provided, and weโ€™re working on that with the regulatory authorities, the colleges for all the regulated health professions, on incremental changes and the guidance they need to move forward over the next couple of weeks."

Until the PHO orders change, and until the College of Dental Surgeons of BC and WorkSafeBC publish guidelines for the next phase of the pandemic, dentists must continue to comply with the current orders which are limited to providing urgent and emergent dental care only. Currently, only a few Victoria area dental offices have sufficient PPEs to remain open for emergencies. Once the new guidelines are finalized we will then need additional time to implement them (including potential equipment changes).

Please note that all previously scheduled appointments have been cancelled. Upon re-opening we will be prioritizing patients requiring emergency and urgent care, including those who have been in contact with Dr. Bridge and Dr. Turner during the shutdown. We will systematically call all patients who were previously scheduled to find new appointments in the order they were cancelled, and will prioritize urgent care needs. Unless you are suffering an emergency, we kindly ask that you do not call the office about a previously booked appointment. We will do our best to re-book cancelled appointments in a fair and chronological order. We appreciate your kindness and patience as we navigate this challenging situation, and we look forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bridge, Dr. Turner and staff

Notice on COVID-19 related closures

The situation regarding the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, is constantly evolving. As of March 16, 2020, the College of Dental Surgeons of BC and the College of Dental Hygienists of BC strongly recommend that all elective and non-essential dental services be suspended immediately. We are complying with this recommendation and our office is now closed until further notice.

Additionally, any attendees of the recent Pacific Dental Conference have been asked to self-isolate until March 22. This is a new development over the previous recommendation to self-monitor for symptoms and proceed as usual. None of our staff who attended the conference have any symptoms of COVID-19 and if that changes we will notify any patients they came in contact with.

See our website for additional information and recommendations regarding COVID-19: https://www.dramandabridge.ca/.

Patients experiencing a dental emergency can contact our office for information on how to proceed.
