The use of Versah burs for indirect sinus grafting at the time of implant placement has become an increasingly popular minimally invasive approach for managing reduced vertical bone height in the posterior maxilla. The Versah osseodensification burs are designed to preserve and compact bone rather than excavate it in the traditional subtractive drilling manner, allowing clinicians to improve implant stability while simultaneously performing a transcrestal sinus elevation. During the procedure, the burs are operated in reverse (counterclockwise) at high speed with copious irrigation, creating controlled bone densification and autografting along the osteotomy walls. As the osteotomy approaches the sinus floor, the densifying effect of the burs enables gradual elevation of the Schneiderian membrane through hydraulic and mechanical pressure without direct membrane perforation.
