Can’t remember the last time you swapped your toothbrush out? If the bristles are worn, it smells funky, or you’ve been sick lately, it's time for a fresh one! Dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3–4 months for optimal oral health, since worn bristles don’t clean as well and can harbour harmful bacteria.

Dentures help many older adults eat, speak, and smile with confidence. But like natural teeth, dentures can collect plaque and bacteria throughout the day.

Without regular cleaning, this buildup may contribute to bad breath, staining, gum irritation, and other oral health concerns. It can also affect any remaining natural teeth and gums.

Keeping dentures clean doesn't have to be complicated. A few simple steps each night can help support a healthier, more comfortable mouth—swipe through to learn! 💡

Many people think brushing immediately after a meal is the healthiest choice, but it may actually do more harm than good.

After you eat, bacteria in your mouth break down food particles and produce acids. These acids, along with those found in foods and drinks, can temporarily soften tooth enamel, the protective outer layer of your teeth. Brushing too soon can wear away enamel while it is still vulnerable. That's why dental professionals recommend waiting at least 30 minutes after eating before brushing your teeth.💙🪥

👄⭐ Oral piercings are a popular form of self-expression, but they can come with risks for your oral health. Tongue, lip, cheek, and other mouth piercings may lead to chipped teeth, enamel wear, gum recession, swelling, infections, and even nerve damage if not properly cared for. ⚠️

The good news? You can reduce many of these risks with the right precautions.

Before getting an oral piercing, talk to both your dentist and your piercer about how the jewellery may affect your teeth and gums. Choose a reputable piercer who follows strict sterilization and safety protocols, and carefully follow all aftercare instructions. Regular dental check-ups are also important for identifying early signs of damage and protecting your long-term oral health.

It’s important to go to a dental check-up every 6 months. Why? Even if your teeth feel fine, a lot can happen beneath the surface 👀

In your regular visits:
✅ Catch cavities and gum issues early
✅ Remove plaque that you can’t reach at home
✅ Keep small problems from turning into bigger (and WAY more expensive) ones
It’s all about prevention—not waiting until something hurts 💙
