Active chewing is one of the best preventative measures against ear infections. 👂

Active chewing promotes ear drainage by stimulating upper jaw movement, pumping the sinuses, and opening the Eustachian tubes. 🌬️

Meeting chewing needs—especially in early childhood—is key for healthy orofacial growth & function, which in turn supports optimal ear health. 💪🦷

The Myo Munchee is a myofunctional chewing device that supports optimal orofacial development, tone & function by helping to strengthen the muscles of the lips, face & jaws.

The tongue is the only muscle, or really group of muscles, in the body that has one freely moveable end. Not only is it attached to most fascial planes directly or indirectly, but it also has attachments on the hyoid bone, mandible, temporal bones, and other structures in the head.

Structurally it can affect the digestive tract and respiratory tract. It has innervation from five cranial nerves – the trigeminal, facial, glossopharyngeal, vagus, and hypoglossus nerve.

The tongue is complex and its involvement in swallowing and speaking are some of the most important functions to survive and communicate.

If you are born with a restricted tongue - the frenum is not as long as it should be to allow the tongue to perform these functions in connection with the body.

Dr Bunt uses many of these assessments in consultation to determine if a tongue is restricted & causing symptoms in the body.

If you routinely have neck or back tension, tension headaches, difficulties with breathing, forward head posture etc it is worth reading this article…

A tongue tie in adults that inhibits the tongue is a major contributor to pain, stiffness, and bad posture. Dr. Lopez demonstrates how to evaluate patients.

These breathing exercises are very effective at reducing effects from long Covid & improving overall well-being.

If you are suffering from long term Covid-19 effects, Patrick’s Coronavirus Recovery video is for you.

Join Patrick McKeown in a practical 40-minute free breathing session on YouTube to improve your respiratory health. Practise breathing recovery to help calm your breathing. By using slow, light breathing techniques, this will improve gas exchange and slow breathing will also improve alveolar ventilation for increased oxygen update in the blood. Finally, practise breath holds until strong air hunger influences the immune response.

These exercises are beneficial to help with recovery post covid.

Functional orthodontics by Dr. Bunt

Early interceptive Orthodontics starting as early as age 3, is not about straight teeth.

It’s about guiding the growth of the jaw structure To help a child breathe, sleep, and function normally. It’s primary focus is about a healthy airway. When a child is breathing and sleeping properly, they will thrive!

Does your child toss and turn at night?

Do they sleep with their mouth open?

Have you noticed they may be tongue tied?

Are they grinding their teeth at night?

Are their teeth crowded and misaligned?

Do they struggle to breathe through their nose?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, call us for an assessment by Dr Bunt. You do not need a referral from your regular dentist.

Here is a patient who has been under the care of Dr Bunt for 6 months now. She still has a long way to go but has made amazing progress so far!
