15 years since we all left . Where did all that time go?! Reuniting with old friends and my first clinical instructor, seeing how the school has changed and sharing memories of dental school makes you realize that only your classmates truly understand what we have faced. At the time dental school was about weekly exams and training your hands to work upside down, backwards, off the reflection of a tiny mirror. 15 years later I realize it was all about having grit.

What an amazing transformation! This lovely patient had old veneers that needed replacement. Her starting situation was too gummy, teeth were too worn and collapsed in, and her arch form was too narrow. We had to improve the situation prior to new veneers. The first step was for to widen the arches and upright the lower posteriors. This provided more restorative space for the lower buccal cusps as well as decreasing the deep bite. Second was for to lift the gums to reduce the gummy smile, increase the amount of tooth structure to work with, and also allowing us to start the ceramic higher to further widen the arch form. We then restore the bite with upper/lower veneers and vonlays with mainly an additive approach. Beautiful ceramics by . Lastly we had a bit of help from to remove a small lip lesion. In the end, I think we got a great result with a team approach that required detailed planning and collaboration.

She said seeing other people’s results had helped her make the decision to pursue treatment so she wanted to share her own results. Implants were done out of province and some endodontic treatment with . on ceramics.

Another single central implant crown. Implant placed many years ago. Good shade match on first try using digital photos for shade communication. Not every single central needs custom staining at the lab.
