A big shout out to our hygiene team. They are in charge of cleaning your teeth above and below the gumline, including removing plaque in hard-to-reach places, and tartar buildup that you can’t remove at home. They look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease and other oral health issues or changes in your mouth. If they spot anything during your appointment, they will let the dentist know. Toothbrushes come in many different shapes and sizes. That’s because our mouths are all different. When buying a toothbrush, try and get one that can reach all areas of the mouth. Some people have smaller mouths, so a brush with a smaller head works better. Sometimes it can be challenging to reach the back molars, a toothbrush with angled bristles can help solve this problem.

No matter the size of your toothbrush, always opt for a soft-bristled option unless otherwise instructed by your hygienist.

When a child loses a primary tooth prematurely, it’s important to see us. Primary teeth play an essential role in the alignment of permanent teeth. If a child loses a tooth too early, a permanent tooth may erupt before it’s ready to fill the space. This might cause problems later on if it’s not the right tooth for the space. We can assess the growth and, in some cases, suggest the use of a space maintainer until the adult teeth are ready to erupt.
