"How do I brush their teeth?!" Don't throw your back out while doing it! 🙅‍♂️ Put kiddo's head in your lap, have them look up to the sky, and brush from there. See our last post for ways to encourage regular toothbrushing.

Some more tips:
🦷"Half on tooth, half on gums." Start the toothbrush on the gums so you don't miss brushing on the gumline!
🦷 For children, use fluoridated toothpaste the size of a grain of rice, unless instructed otherwise by your dentist or doctor
🦷 Use a small-head toothbrush as opposed to a large clunky electric toothbrush- it is often too big to get into nooks and crannies.
🦷 Ask your dentist for help if you're having trouble!

When forming any habit, always choose over . Get kiddo to use a toothbrush every night and every morning, regardless of whether you have time or energy to do a good job. If all else fails, hand baby a toothbrush and let them chew on it. Once you've established a healthy routine, you can start working on better brushing technique (next post!).

🧸"At what age should my child have their first checkup at the dentist?" We get this question a lot! The motto is, "First year or first tooth- whichever comes first!"

Baby's first dental checkup is usually done in the parent or caregiver's lap. The dentist will check your child's dental and jaw development, check for cavities, and assess your child's risk of future dental decay. The dentist can then recommend some tips to keep baby's mouth healthy and cavity free!
