5 Reasons why you need new Dentures

1. Your upper Dentures dislodge when trying to speak. Upper Dentures of any type must resist verticle forces, the bear minimum function is to allow speech, in case of full Dentures, a lack of suction caused by improper extension of the borders of the denture and for lack of mechanical retention for partial dentures such as a clasp (wire or metal piece engaging the tooth)

2. Your Dentures are causing you sore spots in your mouth. Causes can range from the denture not completely seating on the oral surface, borders are overextended or improper design. This can increase the rate of bone loss in the mouth reducing the efficacy of future denture fabrications.

3. The teeth are worn down. This can cause one to overclose his bite causing strain and pain in the jaw, bone loss ,reduced chewing efficiency and impeded speech.

4. This one is an important one for partial denture wearers. If you already have partial dentures but down the road you loose one or more teeth in which you delay new dentures that add those teeth back into your bite can cause an imbalance in the bite leadint to further tooth loss.

5. The Dentures are uncomfortable to wear and are not as aestheticaly pleasing period. It is one thing to adapt to a new set of dentures that may feel odd, new or novel but they should never go to the point where they are outright avoided and left as an ornament in your fish tank.

When we lose teeth, it often becomes a financial burden therefore we delay action but the longer you wait the worse off the rest of the teeth become. To put it simply take out one of the spokes on a wheel and watch the rest of the wheel bend and deform so too do the rest of the teeth start to shift and cause further tooth loss. When you replace your teeth for example by wearing a denture, the opposing tooth has an opposing contact to stop it from "over erupting" and causing further issues like in the video below.
