Ever wondered the proper way to hold floss? Wrap 18 inches of floss around your index or middle finger. Hold it 1 to 2 inches apart between your thumb and index finger. Gently place the floss between your teeth, curving it in a “C” shape along the side of one tooth. Move the floss up and down several times on each side of the tooth. Be careful not to force the floss between the teeth or too far under the gums. Flossing shouldn’t hurt! When you’re done with one tooth, remove the floss and wrap the floss around your fingers to a clean piece of floss before moving to the next tooth.

People sometimes think sports guards are only needed for contact sports like lacrosse, hockey, rugby or martial arts, but athletes playing non-contact sports need protection as well. If there’s a risk of getting hit in the mouth or jaw like baseball, basketball or soccer, or a risk of falling like skateboarding, skiing or snowboarding, then a sports guard is a good investment.

Custom sports mouthguards are more durable and last longer than store-bought guards. We take an impression of the mouth and specially make each guard for a better fit. That means the guard is more comfortable - and more likely to be worn! Ask us about custom mouthguards today. Call .

Plaque is the sticky, germy mixture that forms on your teeth every day (especially where your teeth and gums meet).

If you fail to clean off plaque, it hardens into tartar — plaque and tartar can cause an infection called gingivitis. Yikes!

Don’t worry, though, because the most effective way to stop plaque in its tracks is by brushing twice a day and flossing once a day. You’ve got this!
