Renewals will open from April 15 to June 1, 2026. Members can renew their coverage as soon as they file their tax return and receive their 2025 Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Early childhood caries (ECC) is the chronic, premature decaying of teeth in infants and toddlers. Reduce the risk of ECC by starting dental visits within six months of a first tooth emerging or by 12 months of age, with follow-up visits every six months.

If you’ve paid for your child’s dental treatment out of pocket, you may be able eligible for the Canada Dental Benefit. For Nova Scotians, you will only be eligible if you’ve paid for services that were NOT already covered by MSI and you meet the other eligibility criteria outlined in the post below.

Your child should have a dental checkup and cleaning every 6 months to monitor growth and allow for early cavity detection.

Ready- set- BOOK! The second application period opens on July 1! If you book your child’s dental appointment between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, apply and you could receive up to $650 to help with the cost!

Eligible families must have:

• A child or children under 12
• An adjusted family net income under $90,000
• No access to private dental insurance
