Crazy milestone one doesn’t know where the time goes!!! It’s a great time for me to reinforce how thankful I am for all of you that support my business. It’s wild to think that I’ve been working independently since 2012, minus the year that Covid decided to take over. I took that bull by the horns and took the chance to reopen and it’s the best thing I did. Oral Cancer Screenings are part of every dental appointment in my clinic!!! This includes clients of all ages. Oral cancer does not hurt. It Approximately 30% of cancers in the head and neck area, develop in the mouth. This includes the lips, roof of the mouth, tonsils, back of the throat, all sides of the tongue, floor of the mouth, cheeks and salivary glands.

Lymph nodes of the head and neck, thyroid and TMJ are also assessed at every visit for any abnormalities. Do you have difficulty swallowing, soreness or tenderness in the neck/ear/throat area? Cancer most often does not hurt.

Skin is also assessed on the face, ears, top of the head!! I have referred clients in the past for suspicious areas, as I am not licensed to diagnose lesions. But, I can refer to the appropriate dental or medical professional for further evaluation. With the referrals I have made, 12 of these cases has been diagnosed as a form of skin cancer. This is so important.

If you have complete dentures, it is important that you also have this screening completed.
