Dear Valued Patients,

We are excited to be participating in the new Canada Dental Care Plan. Many of you have already received your welcome package from Sun Life Insurance. As with other Government Plans, there are many administrative issues to deal with. Our goal is to help you through the paperwork and start taking care of your dental health.

With your welcome package, there is an information letter that will let you know the start date for your individual coverage, the percentage of your coverage and an attached registration card. You can now call our office and our receptionist will guide you through the next steps. If you haven’t yet registered, click on the link to send you to the Canada.ca/dental website to enroll. Call our office if you need assistance in the process. We look forward to seeing our existing patients and welcoming new patients to our office.

Dear valued patients,

We appreciate your continued trust in our dental practice and want to address some important matters regarding the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

Why Haven’t We Signed Up Yet?
Government Negotiations: The Ontario Government has recently halted negotiations with the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) and refuses to address some key issues especially for patients with disabilities and patients on the Healthy Smiles Program.

Treatment Limitations: The CDCP imposes restrictions on treating the same tooth within a two-year period. This constraint may hinder our ability to provide timely and optimal care for certain conditions.

Government’s Unilateral Changes: The CDCP allows the Government to make changes to the plan without consulting dental professionals. This lack of transparency can impact our ability to plan and deliver the best care for you.

Lack of Trust: Given the Government’s treatment of physicians and optometrists, there is a general lack of trust in their decision-making processes. We want to ensure that any plan we participate in aligns with our commitment to your well-being.

Limited Participation: Currently, only a few dental offices have signed up for the CDCP, mainly those with less patient traffic. This limited participation could lead to a reduced choice of providers for you to receive the best care.

Our Approach:
While we remain committed to providing high-quality dental care, we believe it is essential to advocate for patients’ healthcare. We are actively monitoring developments and engaging with professional associations to ensure that any plan we join benefits both you and our practice.

The Ontario lock down on Dec. 26, 2020 will NOT be affecting your access to dental care. As regulated health care professionals we are deemed as essential.
We appreciate everyone’s patience with our strict Covid protocols. We are still working our way through our list of cancelled appointments from our spring closure.
However if you have a Dental issue, please do not hesitate in contacting our office.

I am glad to announce that dental offices across Ontario have been re-opened by the order of the Government and Chief Medical Officer of Health. Previously from March 15-May 31st we were only seeing patients on an emergency basis; many of you with broken teeth from the stresses of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are taking steps to re-open by implementing protocols to address the safety of our patients and staff. The following practices will be followed to provide you the confidence that our office is a safe, thorough and friendly environment:

1. Covid-19 screening questionnaire when the appointment is made and at the appointment
2.Temperature screening
3. Hand sanitizing station and masks

Please be patient as we reschedule all appointments, as we cancelled over 2,100 patient visits during the past 11 weeks.

Our staff looks forward to seeing your smiling faces again and welcome any questions you may have regarding your upcoming visits.
