How can Sleep Apnea and Snoring be treated?
The most common treatment for sleep apnea is CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure). CPAP involves wearing a special mask attached to a hose and a machine that continuously blows high-pressure air that keeps the airway open and prevents snoring and breathing pauses
Unfortunately, over 50% of the patients prescribed CPAP discontinue its use within about 30 days. Patients hate this treatment and will not tolerate it!
On the other hand, Dr. Stern fabricates custom-made oral appliances to treat this very same condition. Unlike CPAP, patients love this treatment and find it extremely comfortable. In fact, studies have shown that 10 years later, greater than 90% of the patients prescribed oral appliance therapy still wear their appliance every single night, all the way through the night.
Dr. David Stern, a Diplomat of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a member of the Canadian Sleep Society, can help with effective long-term treatment. If this potentially life-threatening condition
