Today, there are many non-surgical laser therapy procedures which can be utilized in the treatment of periodontal disease. One of these non surgical therapies was developed by Dr. Andrew Willoughby and is called Laser Assisted Connective Tissue Re-attachment Procedure with SilverSOL, or “LACTRPS”.

Developed to offer patients a significantly less traumatic alternative to traditional periodontal surgery, the LACTRPS is specifically designed to help treat chronic refractory periodontal disease as it is able to target and kill specific pathogenic bacteria and eliminate biofilm thus sterilizing the pocket and stimulating wound healing and new tissue formation.

It’s a well-established medical fact that supplementing your daily oral hygiene routine with the use of an mouthwash /rinse will help reduce bacterial plaque, the incidence of gingivitis and bad breath and the risk of tooth decay.

Unfortunately, because alcohol is a drying agent, research has shown that they can actually worsen chronic bad breath. Dr. Willoughby and his team recommend against the long term use of any Alcohol containing mouthwash product until there is more definitive research on this subject. If you or your family wish to use a commercial Mouthwash, then we strongly recommend that you use one that does not contain Alcohol -so check the label carefully!
