The wait is over! We are pleased to offer oral myofunctional assessments and follow up appointments with a trained myofunctional therapist.

Oral myofunctional therapy (OMT) is an exercise-based program that retrains the muscles of the mouth,
tongue, face, and throat. It corrects habits like mouth breathing and improper tongue posture that can
affect breathing, swallowing, sleep, and dental health.

These exercises are guided by a trained
myofunctional therapist and are designed to correct patterns that can affect your health, appearance, and
quality of life over time.

OMT is suitable for children, teenagers and adults.

One of the most impactful educational sessions at this year’s dental convention back in May was with Little Bird Dentistry founder Dr Alison Sigal. Dr Sigal is a pediatric dentist and specializes in proper breathing, myofunctional therapy and tongue ties. Little Bird Dentistry is based in Milton, Ontario.

Our team learned a great deal from Dr Sigal about how these issues can affect children their whole lives. She is an incredible groundbreaking researcher on airway centric care and putting it into her practice.

Dr. Collins has recently joined our team here at East City Dental and we want to give her a huge welcome!

Dr. Cassandra Collins graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 2025 and completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She is passionate about providing comfortable, patient-centred care. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Collins enjoys hiking, baking, and spending time with her dog.
