H.E.C.K. is the only not-for-profit dental clinic in the South Okanagan and we are pleased to announce that we have been examining, diagnosing and treating adults and seniors at our new, permanent location since March 26, 2014. Society has been working on this initiative since August of 2011 when we held our first Not-for-Profit Dental Clinic in the bas
ement of the United Church in Penticton. Since then, we have held 18 Dental Clinics in various participating Dentist offices in the South Okanagan, where we have treated approximately 215 individuals who suffered with tooth pain, infection or loss of function. We have also hosted 4 free Chiropractic Clinics and 3 free Hearing Screening Clinics for the same low/fixed income demographic that our dental clinics serve. In our permanent location, the H.E.C.K. Clinic serves the people of the South Okanagan by increasing access to dental care by offering emergency dental treatment to low/fixed income youth, adults and seniors . We aim to be open two days per week (Monday/Wednesday), but this is not always possible, for various reasons. Referrals for qualified clients can be obtained at agencies such as the Salvation Army Food Bank and the Ooknakane Friendship Center. We also see patients referred by agencies such as the Brain Injury Society, Mental Health, Walk-in and Emergency Centers, Dentists, Doctors, Victim’s Assistance and many other agencies who work with marginalized populations within the South Okanagan. Clients using the Henning Emergency Clinic of Kindness must meet three criteria: they cannot already have a dentist; they must be in pain or have an infection; and they must be on a low or fixed income. NOTE: ALL PATIENTS MUST FILL OUT A MEDICAL ALERT FORM PRIOR TO TREATMENT
A Copy of your Tax Assessment and your BC Care Card will be required when filling out forms. In efforts to keep our services being offered fluidly, please be advised that patients late for appointments will be re-booked two weeks from the appointment date, and no shows will be re-booked after 30 days.
