The team at Dentures by Denturists recently had the privilege of learning firsthand about the incredible impact of the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre and the invaluable role it plays within our community.

When Jaro Wojcicki decided that Dentures by Denturists would sponsor the GBCSC’s Butter Tart Classic Pickleball Fundraiser, our team knew we were supporting a meaningful cause. However, it wasn’t until we were invited to tour the centre and its beautiful property that we truly understood the depth of care and compassion offered there every day.

Guided by staff and volunteers, our team was introduced to the psychosocial side of cancer care — an area that focuses on reducing emotional and physiological stress while supporting patients, caregivers, and families throughout their cancer journey.

Bronson Black thoughtfully walked us through the centre, sharing how psychosocial oncology complements medical treatment by addressing the emotional, mental, and social challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.

What we discovered was extraordinary.

The GBCSC offers an incredible range of supportive programming and services including music therapy, cooking programs, exercise classes, counselling, massage therapy, smudging and healing services, transportation assistance, accessibility support, and wigs for those undergoing treatment.

Every detail has been carefully considered to create a welcoming, supportive, and healing environment for members and their families.

What stood out most was the centre’s ongoing commitment to listening to its members and continually evolving its programs to meet the needs of the community.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to learn about the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, we strongly encourage you to do so. It is truly an invaluable resource for our region.

There are many ways to support the GBCSC, including making a donation, becoming a monthly donor, leaving a legacy gift, supporting an existing fundraiser, or even organizing one of your own.
