How do you know if your dentures still fit properly?

Your mouth naturally changes over time, and those changes can affect how your dentures fit and function.

If your dentures have started to feel loose, uncomfortable, or less stable than they used to, it may be a sign that they need attention.

Other signs can include increased use of denture adhesive, sore spots, difficulty eating, or food getting trapped underneath.

A change in fit doesn't automatically mean you need a new set of dentures. Depending on the situation, an adjustment, reline, or replacement may be recommended.

📞 If you're unsure whether your dentures still fit properly, call 613-596-6623 to book an assessment.

🎥 A Denturist’s Perspective — Episode 3

Denture adhesive can be helpful for some people, especially when it comes to keeping a lower denture stable. But there’s a difference between using adhesive for added stability and relying on it to keep a denture in place when it no longer fits properly.

For Robert, one situation that deserves a closer look is when a brand-new upper denture requires adhesive to stay in place. A well-made upper denture should take advantage of the available anatomy to create stability—and the fit of the denture plays a major role.

Adhesive isn’t necessarily the problem. The question is why you need it in the first place.

In this episode, Robert shares his perspective on denture adhesive, denture fit, and when reaching for adhesive may be a sign that something else needs attention.

A combination of conventional and implant-supported dentures can provide a personalized solution based on your needs.

For this case, the patient received a conventional full upper denture and an implant-supported lower denture supported by 3 implants with ball attachments.

Implant-supported dentures can help provide added stability and security compared with traditional dentures, making everyday activities like eating and speaking more comfortable and confident.

Every smile and every case is different. The right denture solution depends on your oral health, anatomy, and individual needs.

When it comes to creating dentures, the impression process is an important step in capturing the shape of your mouth.

With a conventional impression, physical impression material is used to create a model of your oral structures.

With a digital workflow, scanning technology is used to capture digital information that can be used to design your dentures.

Both approaches have their place, and the right approach depends on your individual treatment needs.
