Most of you know Shane as one of the faces you meet when you enter the office but did you also know that she works with kids who are autistic and have intellectual disabilities? Shane is 1 of 3 MOVE coaches in Ottawa. The MOVE program which is funded by the GoodLife Kids Foundation provides kids and youth with autism and intellectual disabilities with the opportunity to lead active, healthy lives through movement. The program is free for youth between the ages of 12 and 21 and in order to keep it that way she is doing her annual fundraising and she would love your support. Last week we had the privilege of going on our 2nd dental mission. This year we went to Negril, Jamaica. Through the Sandals Foundation and Great Shape! Inc. our team of 10 joined with over 50 dentist, denturist, endodontist, hygienist and support staff to deliver free dental care to people in the community. Two clinics were set up in churches, one in Lucea and the other in Grange Hill. It is so rewarding to have been able to touch the lives of just over 800 people. That number does not include the hundreds of children that the educational team saw as they visited numerous elementary schools and taught the kids about oral health care while distributing toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss to them. Our hearts are full with gratitude to be able volunteer our time to help so many people and whilst doing so, strengthen the bonds of our team. We are refreshed and ready to serve you again.

Congratulations to our very own Shane on being featured in this month’s Faces Magazine.

Shane Scatliffe is one of Ottawa’s most energetic fitness instructors, recently recognized at the GoodLife Fitness Awards Gala during the CANFIT Pro 2023 Conference.

As a Zumba instructor and part of an inaugural Group Fitness Instructor Advisory Team, Shane creates empowering and judgement-free environments for participants of all ages and fitness levels. When she’s not teaching at GoodLife, Shane volunteers her time teaching Zumba in high schools, promoting the importance of strength and confidence to young women. Shane’s impact resonates not only within her classes but also in the broader fitness community, earning her accolades such as inclusion in the GoodLife Top 10 and voluntary roles in Zumba® Community Leadership positions.

The fun starts with Zumba on the gridiron at 12:00pm, then it’s game time with the Ottawa REDBLACKS vs. Montreal ALOUETTES at 4:00pm. Don't miss out! Grad your friends and come and join the fun.
