Your new oral appliance feels a little… strange? That’s normal! šŸŒ™

Like anything new, your mouth and jaw need a little time to adjust. Extra saliva, waking up without the appliance in your mouth, or noticing that your bite feels different in the morning can all happen during those first few nights.

At our clinic, we guide our patients through the adjustment period and follow up to make sure the appliance is comfortable and working as intended.

The goal is not just getting used to an appliance. It’s helping you work toward quieter breathing, less snoring, and more restful sleep. šŸ’™

Save this post for your first few nights, or share it with someone starting oral appliance therapy!

Have you ever Googled something about your child’s sleep and wondered, ā€œIs this normal?ā€ šŸ‘€

Mouth breathing, snoring, teeth grinding, restless sleep, or waking up tired can seem like separate concerns. But sometimes, they may be signs that it’s worth taking a closer look at how your child is breathing, sleeping, and developing.

At our clinic, we look beyond the teeth. We consider the connection between oral development, airway health, and sleep to help identify what may be contributing to the symptoms you’re noticing.

If something doesn’t seem quite right with your child’s sleep or breathing, it may be worth asking the question. šŸ’™

When a child is struggling with sleep-disordered breathing, the right next step will look different for every child. šŸŒ™šŸ’™

At our clinic, we look at the whole picture, including your child’s airway, palate, tongue position, oral habits, and stage of development, to help determine which treatment options may be appropriate.

The goal isn’t simply better sleep. It’s supporting healthy breathing, growth, and development along the way.

If you’ve noticed snoring, mouth breathing, restless sleep, or daytime fatigue in your child, talk to us about an airway-focused assessment.

A palatal expander does more than create space for teeth. 🦷

For some children, it can also support healthy jaw development, improve the amount of room available for the tongue, and encourage better nasal breathing as they grow.

At our clinic, we recommend a palatal expander only when it's appropriate for your child's individual needs. During an assessment, we look at more than just the teeth; we also evaluate the palate, bite, tongue posture, airway, and overall oral development.

If you've noticed crowded teeth, a crossbite, mouth breathing, or you've been told your child has a narrow palate, we'd be happy to discuss whether a palatal expander may be the right option.

When children don't get quality sleep, it can affect much more than how rested they feel. Poor sleep has been linked to a wide range of outward symptoms, including challenges with learning, behaviour, mood, and emotional well-being.

If your child snores, breathes through their mouth, or often wakes up tired, it may be worth taking a closer look.

Because every child deserves to breathe well, sleep well, and thrive.

At our clinic, we offer more than routine dental care. We provide personalized solutions that support healthy smiles, better breathing, quality sleep, and proper oral development for children, teens, and adults.

Whether you’re looking for Invisalign, treatment for snoring or sleep apnea, or you’re concerned about your child’s breathing, oral habits, or development, we’re here to help guide you every step of the way.

We look forward to welcoming you to our clinic and helping you achieve a healthier smile. 🦷
