✨We are pleased to share some exciting news! ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Hebatullah (Heba) Hussein to our team as our newest endodontic associate.

Dr. Heba is a board-certified Endodontic Specialist and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She completed her Ph.D. and DSATP in Endodontics at the University of Toronto, and earned her dental degree with honors along with her Master’s and specialty training in Endodontics in Cairo, Egypt. Her academic journey includes multiple scholarships and awards for outstanding endodontic research and publications.

A passionate advocate for evidence-based, patient-centered care, Dr. Heba combines scientific excellence with compassion in her clinical practice. She also has a strong commitment to education and serves as a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. Beyond the clinic, she contributes to the profession as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and as a peer-reviewer for scientific journals.

When she’s not in the clinic or teaching, Dr. Heba enjoys spending time with family, biking, and painting 🎨🚴‍♀️

Heavily calcified 26 to end the week! When you can barely see the canals on CBCT, you know it's very calcified (first image is axial view and second image is coronal view of MB root)! Thankfully we were able to find all four canals. Once again, our talented DA captured a beautiful final PA, capturing the final look for the case!

Tooth 37 with a beautiful and complex root canal anatomy to start our Friday! M had two separate roots (shown in the first CBCT image - sagittal view) and D canal split into two at apical third (shown in the second CBCT image - sagittal view). Apically splitting canals are always challenging to find and treat, especially when it's a last molar in the mouth. Final PA (taken by our talented 😘) shows the true anatomy of the roots including the apical split of the D root!

Today was filled with lower 2nd molar treatments! Access is challenging, root canal anatomy varies greatly and have to be mindful of the IAN which often sits right under it. Always keeping us on our toes!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Daniel Cho-Kee, our new endodontic associate, to our practice in Barrhaven, Ottawa. Dr. Cho-Kee brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and compassion in the field of endodontics, and we are thrilled to have him as part of our team.

Dr. Cho-Kee completed his specialty training in endodontics at University of Toronto, and has a strong commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care. His gentle approach and dedication to excellence will be a wonderful complement to our existing services.

With the addition of Dr. Cho-Kee, we are now in a stronger position to accommodate patients more promptly and are better equipped to book urgent cases in a timely manner. This means quicker access to care for your patients when they need it most.

Without CBCT and microscope, highly complex root canal anatomies are often missed.
Tooth 46 retreatment - large apical lesion was present on D root and smaller apical lesion was present on M root. Upon taking CBCT, previously missed middle-D canal was noted. All three D roots had separate portals of exit.

Tooth #36 with 6 canals to finish the day! I guess 6 canal molars are not so rare!

Heavily calcified and curvy roots to start the day! You really can't tell the true anatomy (canals are invisible on PA due to calcification) of the canals until we finish the treatment to see how curved they truly were!

Interesting case to finish the day! Tooth 36 with 6 canals - all of them with separate portals of exit! RCT was initiated by patient's general dentist but referred to us due to calcification of the canals. Axial view CBCT showed 6 little canals and Sagittal view showed one of the D canal (mid-D canal) had a sharp curve, exiting laterally. IAN was very close to the apices, so I made sure not to extrude sealer beyond apices. If you look carefully, on a final PA, you can see one of the D canal with lateral exit.
