Dental Hygienist
3-5 Days per Week
Community Care, City of Kawartha Lakes (CCCKL) is currently seeking a Part Time Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated dental team. This position plays a vital role in supporting clients and families within our community-based clinic and works collaboratively with other dental team members to provide high-quality care. Hours will vary; availability to work on Fridays is required. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to enhancing oral health in the community.
Key Accountabilities:
• Provides general preventative services, good oral hygiene training, and direct patient care to adult and paediatric patients
• Examines client’s teeth and gums, recording the presence of disease or abnormalities
• Examinees the teeth and surrounding tissues for evidence of plaque and periodontal disease
• Prepares dental hygiene diagnosis based on dental diagnosis and all assessments
• Removes calculus, stains and plaque from client's teeth
• Applies cavity-preventive agents such as fluorides and sealants.
• Documents treatment in electronic medical record
• Ensure all dental instruments, equipment and treatment area is properly maintained through disinfection, sterilization and cleaning as per Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) standards
• Ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous material
Key Competencies:
• Dental Assistant Certificate with two years related experience.
• In good standing with CDHO
• Comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings.
• Knowledge and principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care is necessary.
• Working knowledge of ABELDent
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• HARP Certification and current CPR
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

COMPENSATION
The wage range for this exciting opportunity is $36.03- $39.44. Selected candidates will be appropriately placed on the organizations wage grid based on skill, knowledge and experience.
