Depending on your smile, oral health, and goals, your dentist may consider:

🚨 A common misconception: If your gums bleed while brushing, you should avoid brushing that area.

🦷 In fact, it’s the opposite.

In most cases, bleeding gums are a sign of gum inflammation—not that brushing has injured your gums.

🦠 When plaque and bacteria build up along the gumline, the gums become inflamed and may bleed with even the slightest contact, including while brushing or flossing.

❗ If you stop brushing or flossing because of the bleeding, more plaque will accumulate, and the inflammation will only get worse.

✅ With proper oral hygiene, the bleeding usually begins to decrease within 1–2 weeks.

👨‍⚕️ However, if the bleeding continues despite maintaining good oral hygiene, or if it is severe, be sure to visit your dentist for a proper evaluation.

Healthy gums don’t bleed—healthy habits make the difference.
