At Ardent Dental, digital dentistry is helping us make treatment more precise, comfortable, and predictable than ever before. 🦷

With our in-office 3D printing technology, we can create:
• Nightguards
• Retainers
• Surgical guides for implant placement
• Dental models
• Temporary crowns
• Smile simulations and treatment designs

For patients, this often means:
✔️ Better comfort
✔️ Faster turnaround times
✔️ More precise fit and planning
✔️ More predictable esthetic and functional results

3D printing also allows us to plan treatments in greater detail before we even begin — combining modern technology with the human side of dentistry to deliver care that is thoughtful, personalized, and efficient.

Dentistry continues to evolve at an incredible pace, and we love staying current with the latest advances in both the art and science of dental care.

Water flosser or traditional floss — which is better? 🦷

The truth is: the “best” option is usually the one you’ll actually use consistently.

Traditional floss is still one of the most effective ways to clean between teeth and along the gumline. But water flossers can be a great addition, especially for people with braces, bridges, implants, or anyone who finds regular floss difficult to use.

Water flossers may also help reduce gum inflammation and bleeding by reaching areas that are harder to clean.

Our advice? You don’t necessarily have to choose one over the other. For many patients, a combination works really well.

What matters most is cleaning between your teeth every day — because plaque starts building up within about 24 hours.

If you’re unsure which option fits your needs best, ask your hygienist or dentist at your next visit. Oral care is never one-size-fits-all. ✨

A big thank you to physiotherapist Reza Ghannadan from QubeCore Sports & Rehab for spending time with our team and leading a workshop on posture, ergonomics, and movement in dentistry.

Dentistry can be physically demanding work, and small habits in posture and positioning can make a huge difference over time — not only for comfort, but for long-term health and longevity in our profession.

We appreciate Reza sharing practical advice, hands-on guidance, and simple strategies our team can incorporate into everyday clinical life.

Taking care of people starts with taking care of the people providing the care. 🖤

Worried about dental X-rays for your child? 😬 You’re not overreacting, but the risk is very low.

A lot of parents hear “radiation” and immediately tense up. That makes sense. When it’s your kid, even routine dental care can feel like a bigger decision.

Here’s the part that helps: dental X-rays use very small amounts of radiation. In many cases, it’s similar to just a few days of natural background radiation we all get from everyday life.

✦ Modern imaging in pediatric dentistry is built to keep exposure as low as possible.
A dentist doesn’t take X-rays “just because.”
They’re recommended when there’s a real reason, based on your child’s age, size, and what needs to be checked.

What can they catch?
Cavities between teeth, infections, jaw development concerns, injured roots, or teeth that aren’t coming in the way they should. A lot of that stays hidden without imaging.

That’s really the tradeoff:
• very low radiation
• a much better chance of finding problems early

And early detection often means simpler treatment, less discomfort, and clearer decisions for your child’s dental care.

If you’re unsure, ask questions. Honestly, you should.
What is this X-ray checking for?
Why now?
What happens if we wait?

Think mouthguards are only for boxers? 🥊 That idea causes a lot of avoidable dental injuries.

If a sport involves speed, contact, sticks, balls, boards, or a chance of falling, a mouthguard is a smart move. Hockey and football, sure. But also basketball, soccer, skateboarding, mountain biking, gymnastics, martial arts, skiing, and baseball.

Kids and teens need them because teeth and jaws are still developing. Adults need them too, especially if you’ve already put time and money into dental care, restorative dentistry, teeth whitening, or dental implants. One hit can undo a lot.

Braces change the equation even more. A blow to the mouth can cut lips and cheeks, damage brackets and wires, and turn a small accident into a bigger problem. A mouthguard adds protection where it counts.

✦ What it helps protect:
Chipped or broken teeth
Cuts to lips and tongue
Jaw injuries
Existing dental work

One honest note: not all mouthguards feel the same. Store-bought ones can be bulky or slip around, which is usually why people stop wearing them. A better fit is often more comfortable, easier to breathe and speak with, and more likely to stay in during the game.

For active families in North Vancouver, this is one of those small habits that can save pain, time, and money later. 🦷

📩 DM this to a sports parent or teammate who needs the reminder, and drop the sport your family plays most in the comments.

Not sure whether you really need that dental treatment? You are not alone. Asking questions is not being difficult. It is part of making informed decisions about your oral health.
Before moving forward with treatment, it is important to understand the problem, your options, the risks, the costs, and whether there are alternatives. And if you want a second opinion, that is completely okay too.
At Ardent Dental, we believe in honest dental care tailored to each patient’s individual needs and situation. 🦷

✨ Investing in better prevention for our patients ✨

Our hygiene team recently completed training on our newest piece of equipment — the Air Polisher.

This advanced technology allows our hygienists to gently and effectively remove biofilm and surface stains while improving the overall preventive care we provide. Using a fine stream of air, water, and polishing powder, the air polisher helps us reach areas that traditional polishing sometimes misses, leaving teeth feeling exceptionally clean and smooth.

It’s especially helpful for removing stubborn stains from coffee, tea, and wine, and for disrupting harmful biofilm that contributes to cavities and gum disease.

At Ardent Dental, we believe great dentistry starts with prevention — and investing in the latest technology and ongoing training for our team is part of that commitment.

Our hygienists are excited to bring this new level of care to your visits!
