Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is an extremely safe, effective tool to manage pain and anxiety in all of our patients, even in young children. An unobtrusive, comfortable mask is secured on our patient’s nose so the correct dose of laughing gas can be inhaled through the nasal passages. The patient is treated in a state of reduced anxiety and pain. At the end of the appointment, the patient inhales pure oxygen for 5-10 minutes and the patient feels normal again.
