Dear Valued Patients and friends,

What a time to be alive! All the spring blooms and air is just wonderful :) We hope you are all getting to (safely) enjoy it just as much as we are.

We are looking forward to getting back to work and seeing everyone we have missed so much! We do not have an official reopen date to announce as of yet, but wanted to reach out and share some information with you all.

As was announced, Phase 2 of BC’s (Careful) Restart Plan begins mid-May under enhanced protocols, and this includes Dental Offices.

We, like all other dental offices, are still awaiting clear directives on the regulatory guidelines from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC. At this time, we are unsure if structural modifications are required for the dental operatories, however this may be a possibility.

One of the biggest challenges we will face with respect to returning to work is the availability of necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). This challenge may affect our ability to re-open & unfortunately it may push it back several more weeks.

We all want to reopen in the safest way possible, and when we do, you can be sure it will look a little different at your next visit.

A few examples of possible changes are as follow:

- Expect to be screened over the phone for symptoms of the virus and anyone who is ill will be asked to wait until they are healthy.
- Appointment times may be staggered to ensure minimal people in the office at one time and waiting rooms will be kept sparse, with no magazines or childrens toys and fewer chairs to ensure physical distancing.
- Patients will also be called into the dental chair quicker to minimize wait-times
and to manage the flow of people in and out.
- Administrative transactions will be reduced, such as paying bills which may be done virtually or via phone instead. In cases where transactions are done at the counter,
there will likely be plexiglass shields between administrative staff and patients.

Please wait for our office to contact you to reschedule your appointments. We have a comprehensive list of appointments needing to be rescheduled; please be patient with us as we navigate these challenging and atypical times.This
will allow us to complete the rebooking process in the most efficient & fair manner. As you can imagine there is a substantial backlog of displaced patients over the past 2 months. Patients who need urgent treatment will be prioritized.

Initially we likely will need to limit the number of patient appointments per day to possibly half of our typical schedule to meet physical distancing and procedural requirements.

We ask for your patience as we work towards the ‘new normal’ in our office. We know there is a strong desire and need to progress with your treatments as soon as possible, this is our goal too. When we have the office ready for you, we will announce it immediately and will look forward to seeing all your smiles again!

To our valued patients and friends,

We would like to provide some reassurance in these trying times. BC dentists are closely following the guidelines provided and have been for several weeks. We are well accustomed to taking the highest measures to ensure infection control, always. We do this every day; it has always been paramount to disinfect all infectious disease from our offices.

As of Monday, March 16, 2020 the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC), in alignment with yesterday’s direction and guidance in response to the Covid-19 situation, has recommended we suspend elective and non-essential dental services immediately. This guidance is in place until further notice & the regulatory bodies instruct us otherwise. We will be in contact with those patients immediately displaced by this action, knowing this situation is rapidly changing. The management of emergent concerns of patients requiring immediate treatment due to infection, acute pain &/or trauma will continue.

As well, as the sole attendee of the Pacific Dental Conference from our office, Dr. Davidoff will be complying with the directive of The BC Ministry of Heath & Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s Provincial Health Officer, to self-isolate until March 22, 2020. We would like to let everyone know she is feeling well & has not experienced any symptoms of any illness.

If you have been in contact with her, you are not required to self-isolate. If you have traveled outside of Canada, you should self-isolate for 14 days, and most definitely you should avoid all travel. If you have symptoms of any illness, cough, flu or fever you should stay home. Based on current information from the BC Centre for Disease Control, testing is available for all who need it but not everyone requires a test. If you have no symptoms, mild symptoms or you are a returning traveler self-isolating at home, you do not require a test. Everyone at this time should be implementing social distancing. It saves lives!

We would like to express our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to everyone as we navigate through these uncharted waters. In the words of our Prime Minister this week, exceptional circumstances are calling for exceptional measures, and it is time to take every precaution to keep people safe.

Dr. Davidoff is working diligently to stay up to date with the requirements of the public health agencies to keep her friends, family, dental family, both patients and staff, along with herself SAFE.

Dear patients, colleagues, and friends,

It is with sincere appreciation, excitement, and humility that I announce that our dental family is growing.

As Dr. Jennifer Rizzuto Tinholt so eloquently stated in her heartfelt goodbye in today's Nelson Star (see below), as of June 30, 2017 she will leaving the practice of dentistry to focus on her personal well being, and with a heavy heart has decided to sell her practice.

I have known Dr. Jennifer for many years and to step away from this profession that brings so much joy to our lives - for which she is so passionate about - could not have been an easy decision to make. On behalf of myself, our dental team, and patients, we wish Dr. Jennifer well in this next chapter of her life. I look forward to working with her over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all of us.

That said, all patient records as well as Ms. Margret MacDonald will move to our office located at 110 Baker St. to provide a seamless integration and uninterrupted dental care for all of Dr. Jennifer's existing patients.

I invite you all to join me in wishing Dr. Jennifer well and extending a warm welcome to all of our new patients.
