Another “What’s Up With That?” question!

Why do my gums bleed when I floss? 🦷

Bleeding gums can be a sign of inflammation, often caused by plaque buildup along the gumline. It can also happen if you're new to flossing, haven't flossed in a while, or are using too much pressure.

The good news? Regular brushing and gentle, consistent flossing can help improve gum health and reduce bleeding over time!

If your gums continue to bleed, or you notice swelling or tenderness, it's a good idea to check in with your dentist to rule out gum disease or other concerns.

We're so happy to welcome Dr. Kumaraswamy, aka Dr. Mani, to the Wade Abbott Dentistry and Associates team! 🦷✨

With more than 20 years of experience in dentistry, Dr. Kumaraswamy is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental care.

Originally trained in India, he earned his BDS in 2001 and MDS in Prosthodontics in 2006. He went on to build a career in clinical dentistry and university teaching before moving to Canada, where he completed his dental licensing examinations in 2025.

Dr. Kumaraswamy takes a patient-first approach, focusing on listening to concerns, explaining treatment options, and helping patients make informed decisions about their oral health. His clinical interests include restorative dentistry, implant-supported restorations, and smile aesthetics.

Outside the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and has a love for aviation, with hopes of earning his private pilot’s licence one day! ✈️
