Hello again! We will finally be back into the clinic for regular dentistry as of Wednesday this week. As you all might imagine, there is a large amount of newly damaged/broken teeth to contend with, in addition to the regular 2-month backlog, so we are working hard to take care of everyone as soon as we can. Dental hygiene appointments are not permitted until at least June 1st.
When you come back and see us, things will look a little bit different at the clinic and the experience will seem a bit odd the first time.
First of all, every patient is required to wear a mask when not receiving treatment, so please bring one to wear if you can.
Upon arrival at the clinic, patients will be required to phone the office to notify us that they are present and then remain in their vehicle until it is time to enter. Please do not park in any parking spaces that are marked with Reserved signs.
When it is time to enter the office, a receptionist will call your cell phone to let you know, and then she will meet you inside the front door. She will do a quick COVID-19 screening, give you a sq**rt of hand sanitizer, and lend you a reusable cloth mask if you require one.
Then you will be brought back to see the dentist.
The dentist will look a little funny. Even funnier than usual, so prepare yourself 😊
Depending on the procedure required, the dentist and assistant may both have respirators, surgical masks, face shields, gowns, lab coats, and eye protection. If you are receiving fillings, there is a good chance we will need to use a rubber dam. You may also receive a pre-operative mouth rinse to help diminish the quantity of any bacteria or viruses in your saliva.
When your treatment is completed, you will need to put your mask back on and head back to the front office. The receptionists will also look super funny in their required masks, gloves and eye protection. If possible, please pay your balance with credit or debit, as cash is now considered a vector for disease transmission (whereas the Interac machine is easily cleaned).
As with travelling anywhere in these weird times, please try your best to stay 6+ feet away from anyone that is unmasked and minimize touching anything that doesn’t need to be touched. Wash/sanitize hands frequently and please take care of yourself as best you can.
Everyone is working hard (and working smart!) to keep you as safe as possible while delivering the best treatment we possibly can. Please be patient with us as we all get accustomed to this temporary “new normal”, and hopefully it’ll be a thing of the past before we know it.
Have a great day, and see you soon! 😊
