When a retainer stops retaining — and starts moving teeth. 😬
This patient's bonded (fixed) retainer had become active — a partially detached, distorted wire that was slowly twisting the front teeth out of position instead of holding them. This is known as the "twist effect" (wire syndrome), and it can happen silently over months.
We removed the problem wire, corrected the twisted teeth, and secured the result properly. ✅
👉 If you have a bonded retainer, have it checked regularly — a loose or bent wire isn't harmless, it's an appliance working against you.
