Did you know your dentist & dental hygienists screens for more than cavities?

This patientā€™s lower lip lesion changed significantly between visits. While many oral lesions are harmless, changes in colour, texture, size, or healing can sometimes indicate something more serious.

If you notice a sore, lump, white patch, red patch, or area that hasnā€™t healed after 2 weeks, book an exam.

Early detection matters.

FALSE.

Sugar definitely plays a role, but cavities are influenced by more than just how much sugar you eat.

Things like:

* How often you snack
* Sugary/acidic drinks
* Plaque buildup
* Oral hygiene
* Saliva flow
* How long your teeth are exposed to acids

So even if you donā€™t eat much candy, you can still develop cavities.

The takeaway: Itā€™s not just what you eat ā€” itā€™s also how often and how long your teeth are exposed to it.
