Good news for patients suffering from periodontitis.
Researchers at King’s College London discovered in a recent study that the fasting-mimicking diet helps reduce gum inflammation.
Patients in the fasting group consumed approximately 1,100 calories per day for two days, followed by 750 calories per day for three days. On the sixth day, calories were gradually reintroduced through soft foods before participants returned to their normal diets on the seventh day. The cycle was repeated three times over six months.
After six months, researchers analyzed blood samples and gingival crevicular fluid — a fluid found in the space between the teeth and gums that can provide insight into periodontal inflammation.
Compared with the control group, participants who followed the fasting-mimicking diet showed lower levels of inflammatory markers in both blood and gum tissue. These included reduced levels of C-reactive protein, a common marker of systemic inflammation, and lower concentrations of inflammatory molecules in periodontal tissues. So intermittent fasting with a reduction in caloric intake for just 5 days per month will help not only with slimming down but also play a much more important role in fighting inflammation in the body.

Do you know that the tradition of egg hunting comes from German folklore and started in 1682, when Georg Frank von Franckenau
published a book titled "About Easter Eggs". The Easter Bunny/ the Osterhase/was supposed to judge which children were good and which were not, quite similar to the "naughty or nice" list made by Santa Claus. Originating among German Lutherans, the Easter Bunny legend holds that it carries coloured eggs in its basket, along with candy and sometimes toys, to the homes of children.
Georg Franck von Franckenau was born in 1643 in the small town of Naumburg. He was trained in botany and medicine, and, besides teaching anatomy, botany, and chemistry, he was also famous for his writings on cultural traditions. He became Professor of Medicine at the University of Heidelberg in 1679. He was Personal Physician to the Margrave of Baden, the Duke of Württemberg and the Archbishop of Trier. He mentions Easter Hare traditions in his book titled "De ovis paschalibus."Also in England during the medieval Christian era, it was customary for children to go door-to-door begging for eggs on the Saturday before Lent began. People handed out eggs as special treats for children to enjoy before the Lenten fast; they then abstained from eggs throughout Lent and could enjoy them once again at the conclusion of Lent with the arrival of Easter Sunday.
Some of these traditions are continued to this day: hunting for the chocolate eggs hidden in the garden, chocolate bunny figures decorating baskets with "swieconka"-blessed food, or painting and adorning hard-boiled eggs to create pisanki...
With all these Easter traditions, we create long-lasting memories, stronger family and community bonds and deeper Faith. Because behind all these traditions, one is the most important-unwavering faith in Salvation and Christ the Redeemer.
On behalf of the whole ABM Dental Team, we wish you a very healthy, joyful Easter 🐣🐇🌞
