Did you know we accept new patients of all ages?

We love working with children and setting them on the right path for a lifetime of excellent oral hygiene. We love chatting with kids and teens about their favourite video games (even if we haven’t heard of them). And we love sitting down to catch up with our adult patients — it’s almost like a social call.

As always, we’re so appreciative when you refer your friends, neighbours, and colleagues to us when they’re looking for a new dental practice. Thank you!

Men are more likely than women to experience periodontal disease, and it may also impact other areas of men's health.

Studies have shown that prostate health, cardiovascular disease, impotence, and even cancer may be associated with a man’s periodontal health.

That’s why it’s especially important that men come in for hygiene visits twice a year and monitor potential symptoms of periodontal disease, including swollen or tender gums and bleeding while brushing.

When should you start brushing your baby’s teeth?

You can start cleaning your baby’s mouth with a soft, damp cloth even before their first tooth emerges. This will help them get used to having their mouth cleaned. Once their first tooth emerges, you can begin gently brushing their teeth with a baby toothbrush and a smear of children’s toothpaste. Clean their mouth and brush their teeth at least twice a day.

Children’s permanent teeth grow in with three little bumps on the tooth called “mamelons.” These are normal and wear down over time, which is why most adults don’t have these bumps. Feel free to ask us questions about mamelons or tooth development at your next appointment.

There are a few things you can do to get some temporary relief for a toothache.

1) Try rinsing with warm salt water. If this makes it worse, try rinsing with cold water. Depending on the problem, cold water might feel better than warm water.
2) Floss around the problem tooth, as there may be food stuck. Remember to be gentle and not to force the floss between the teeth.
3) Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, as directed. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth.
4) Rub an over-the-counter antiseptic containing benzocaine or clove oil onto the affected tooth and gum to numb the pain.
5) Place a cold compress on the outside of your cheek.

Most importantly, give us a call at your earliest convenience. We’ll take a look at that tooth and let you know what’s wrong.

Tooth contouring is a gentle and pain-free procedure that alters the shape or length of a tooth. We remove a tiny amount of tooth enamel with a laser or a drill and sculpt a more pleasing shape. The tooth is then polished for a smooth finish. This simple procedure is pain-free and won’t cost an arm and a leg. Contact us at about tooth contouring today and smile with confidence!

Receding gums are not necessarily a sign of aging.

Although gum recession has traditionally been associated with aging, it’s actually caused by things like grinding your teeth, brushing or flossing too hard, exposure to acidic drinks such as energy drinks, smoking, or frequent teeth whitening.

Fortunately, there’s a lot we can do to prevent gum recession. Regular checkups and oral hygiene appointments — as well as changing dental habits — can help keep gums healthy. Each case is different, so ask us for advice at your next check-up!

We’re often asked about the difference between clear aligners and metal braces for straightening teeth.

Clear aligners are worn over the teeth to gently adjust the teeth. Patients switch to a new set of aligners every week or two. Clear aligners are invisible, so most people won’t ever notice them. Because they are removable, you can take clear aligners out to eat and brush, and then pop the aligners back in. They do need to be worn about 23 hours a day, so make sure to put them back in when you’re done eating.

Traditional braces are placed directly onto the teeth using metal or ceramic brackets. Wires and tiny rubber bands are used to move the teeth gently into place. There are lots of options with traditional braces as they can be placed in different ways either behind or in front of the teeth. There is even a wide array of rubber band colours to choose from.

Book a consultation with us and we’ll help you make the decision that’s best for you or your teen.
