The enamel of your tooth is naturally white but after being worn down, the dentin, which is a more yellow colour, shows through. Certain foods should be avoided as they stain the teeth yellow or they may also be acidic and can tear away the tooth's enamel. These include sugary drinks, candy, wine, coffee, and black tea. To prevent stained teeth, avoid these foods and follow good dental hygiene and habits. The most effective way to get rid of stained teeth is with professional dental whitening.

In most cases, it's better to remove them. For many, wisdom teeth can cause discomfort or future dental issues, so extraction is often recommended.
They can disrupt alignment. Wisdom teeth can push against your other teeth, leading to crowding or misalignment if not addressed.

Teeth grinding, or bruxism is a common ailment and usually occurs during sleep due to stress, anxiety, or an abnormal bite. Constant teeth grinding may cause further complications such as fracturing and loosened teeth. Regular check-ups help see the signs before teeth become severely damaged by teeth grinding. Your dentist may perform procedures for tooth restoration or prescribe fitted mouth guards to help prevent further teeth grinding.

Most people don't know what to do if they break a tooth. Firstly, don't throw away your tooth! Collect the tooth, touching only the crown of the tooth, and store it in a safe area. Place gauze in the mouth to control bleeding, and apply a cold pack or ice outside the area to reduce swelling and pain. You may take Advil or Tylenol to help with the pain. Call your dentist's emergency number right away.

If you have a broken tooth it is important to schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible. Ignoring the issue may worsen the problem and can cause infection or further pain. If you cannot see the dentist right away, use gauze on the bleeding area and cold pack or ice to reduce swelling and pain. Taking a pain reliever such as Advil can also help.

Myth: Brushing is bad for bleeding gums. When your gums bleed, its a sign that plaque and food particles are accumulating along your gum line and the gums have become irritated and inflamed. You need to brush to remove the gunk if you want the bleeding to stop. The key is to brush and floss regularly and gently. Your dental hygienist will be happy to help you improve your technique.

Did you know the amount of sugar you eat is not the deciding factor in tooth decay?
It is about how long the sugar is in contact with your teeth. This means that eating three candy bars, then immediately brushing your teeth, is less harmful to your dental health than eating one candy bar without brushing.
