Relapse following orthodontics is super common and the main reason is stopping to wear your retainers!

Yi presented to us complaining of relapse after braces she did in her teenage years. After 1 year of clear aligners we restored her aligned smile! She’s thrilled and promises to wear the retainers this time 🤣✨

Single 🦷 replacement here with a dental implant!

Digital scanning + a good lab = makes us look amazing when the crown fits perfect! Took 15 min only to insert this one! No adjustments needed and the patient couldn’t believe it! 😄

Tissue is the Issue! 🧐

Patient presented to me wanting implants on the lower left. He had already had a previous consult saying they can place 2 implants. While there was sufficient bone for implants, there was no attached gingiva on the buccal and the mucogingival junction was at the crest. So when I asked him “do you want implants” or “do you want implants with long term success” he naturally trusted me to proceed with a different plan.

Progression of treatment ➡️
1. Implant placement with a more lingual incision to try to push and gain keratinized tissue on the buccal. (Some improvement but not enough)
2. Free gingival graft from patients palate - we gained keratinized tissue and a beautiful emergence profile!
3. Screw retained crowns inserted with custom abutments

Often times patients will go for the quickest and cheapest option. In this case I’m so glad he trusted me with a different plan! He now has a favorable gum profile around his implants setting him up for long term success!

Implant and crown insert today! This patient had a missing tooth for many years so the space collapsed. She had ortho to increase the space at 35 (and align the rest of the smile). Guided implant surgery due to the tight spacing here. Beautiful result and she couldn’t wait to debond the ortho!
