I absolutely love this natural-looking smile transformation! This patient came to us concerned about the wear of her teeth, she wanted them restored but was terrified of having “too white or fake-looking teeth”. She really emphasized to us the importance of her veneers looking natural and that she wasn’t after “perfect”.
Veneers done well don’t have to look fake and they should never be easily detectable. The porcelain of the past was chunky, opaque, white and gave off that “Chiclet” appearance that so many of us have come to associate with veneers but this case proves that by working with the right dentist, results can be beautiful, natural and virtually undetectable.
My advice to anyone looking to have veneers placed is to make sure you have a similar aesthetic taste as your dentist and make sure you are able to communicate with them effectively on what results you’re hoping to achieve. The first question I ask any patient looking to have work done is “What results are you looking for? Do you want that Hollywood smile or do you want a natural smile based on the appearance of your existing teeth?” The way the patient answers already tells me so much about what they are looking for. Then I follow up with a much more detailed conversation to ensure we both understand eachother.
I am also very particular about the ceramist who makes my patient’s crowns or veneers. I trust my ceramist completely because I know he has a unique talent for designing teeth but I still make sure I have multiple detailed conversations with him about what exact look my patient is going for. I really dread the idea of delivering a case and hearing the patient say it wasn’t the colour or look they wanted which is why I go through such painstaking measures to ensure I can deliver predictable results that the patient will be happy with.
This patient was absolutely beaming when she walked out of our office and I have to admit I was feeling pretty great about the results as well!
