Dear Families of Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry, and our Community as a whole,

It has come to our attention that the practice transition letter sent recently was unclear with regard to our current patients and their families.

The only change that we are making is that dentist referrals are required for NEW patients and families to our practice. All children who are currently patients will continue to be, and all siblings of existing patients or new patients who have already made appointments can and will be seen. There may be some changes required to re-schedule families that have been scheduled for appointments while Dr. Coutu was in the office and Dr. Farquhar was in the operating room, but we are working through these to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Please note, Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry is still planning to add another associate Pediatric Dentist to the practice, but it needs to be just the right person!

Thank you for your patience, and apologies for the confusion!

Sincerely,

Dr. Farquhar and the entire Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry Team

Dear Families of Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry, and our Community as a whole,

We are announcing an important transition in our office. As of January 19th, Dr. Jennifer Coutu will be leaving our office to pursue another career opportunity. Beginning Jan 23rd, Dr. Farquhar will be the only specialist at Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry to help serve the families of Interior BC and the greater Okanagan until our associate position is filled. This transition is important to address the changing environment in BC related to Specialist and supporting Team member availability. With a reduction of time available in the office for scheduling, we are necessarily transitioning to referral only. All of us at OPD are very grateful for your community support with word-of-mouth referrals, received from happy families. We assure you THAT won’t change! Unfortunately, however, we can no longer accept non-dentist-referred families. We are here to support all of our children and families and available to answer any questions regarding ongoing care. In the following statements we will share with you the guiding principles behind our passion for pediatric dentistry.

Our Office Philosophy
We believe in treating every child as an individual while both respecting family values and exceeding the standard of care, always.

Vision
To be a premiere pediatric dental practice in Interior BC, offering exceptional individualized comprehensive care in a safe environment utilizing all modalities of treatment with an end goal of achieving excellence in pediatric surgical restorative care when thoughtful planning and careful implementation of best preventive practice has either been successful and caries has been arrested, or not, and the results of the disease must now be managed.

Mission
To provide care in such a manner that our patients will grow up having achieved excellence in oral health, strong preventive habits, and a healthy respect and appreciation for their oral health care team.

We look forward to serving our community in the years ahead! Please share our message with your friends and families.

Sincerely,

Dr. Farquhar and the entire Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry Team
