💕 Exciting news 💕

Many of you know Brook, one of our hygienists. Her last day in the office before maternity leave will be June 30th.

We’re going to miss her so much around here, but we’re truly happy for her as she gets ready to welcome her little one and start this next chapter. 👶

As we adjust schedules during her leave, some patients with pre-booked hygiene appointments may be contacted about changes. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Please join us in wishing Brook all the very best!

Meet Dr. Travis Lynn! 🦷

Dr. Travis Lynn grew up in Central Alberta and will be starting with us this Thursday! He believes dentistry should feel clear, comfortable, and collaborative, and takes a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to patient care.

Dr. Lynn completed his dental training at the University of Melbourne, graduating with distinction, and is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care for his patients.

Outside of the clinic, you’ll likely find him cooking, playing squash, or enjoying nature photography. Fun fact — he’s left-handed, so if something seems a little backwards at your next appointment, that might be why! 😉

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Lynn to our team — be sure to say hello when you see him in the office! 💛

This isn’t staining—it’s plaque made visible🧐 keep reading...

These photos are from two different children in the same family. Even with similar routines, we can see how brushing habits (and missed areas) can vary from child to child. Here, a dye solution was used to highlight where brushing is being missed.

The colors tell the story:
• Pink/red = newer plaque
• Purple/blue = older plaque that’s been left behind longer

Notice how it collects along the gumline and between the teeth—areas that are commonly missed. Once teeth start to touch, flossing becomes just as important as brushing to clean those tight spaces.

Plaque is full of bacteria, and if it isn’t removed effectively, it can lead to cavities and gum irritation.

You can find disclosing tablets at many pharmacies or online (including Amazon). They can be a helpful tool at home if you’re unsure how well your child is brushing.

At-home tips for healthy smiles:
• Brush twice a day, before bed being the most important
• Floss daily (very important once teeth are touching)
• More time brushing doesn’t always mean better brushing—technique matters
• Help or supervise your child to make sure all areas are being reached

A little extra attention goes a long way in preventing cavities and keeping smiles healthy. 🦷

📢 CDCP Reminder for Our Patients

You may have recently received an email from our office about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

👉 If you are not eligible or this doesn’t apply to you, please feel free to disregard it.

We sent this out as a courtesy to all patients to help make sure everyone is aware of:
✔️ How to renew their coverage
✔️ How to apply if eligible
✔️ Important deadlines to avoid losing benefits

If you are currently enrolled, remember that CDCP is not automatically renewed—you must complete your renewal by June 1 to avoid a lapse in coverage.

If you’re not enrolled but may qualify (no private dental insurance and household income under $90,000), applications will reopen June 2.

As always, if you have questions or need help navigating your coverage, our team is here to help!
