UPDATE REGARDING COVID-19

Dear Patients,

As many of you know, we hold the cleanliness and the sterilization of our office to the highest standard. We have continued to hold these standards while monitoring the progression of COVID-19. In the interest of our patients’ safety, as well as our own, we have been seeking guidance from the College of Denturists regarding next steps to protect our patients and manage our office during this uncertain time.
Today we received direct instruction from the College of Denturists of Ontario to immediately suspend ALL non-essential denturism care to aid in the prevention of spreading the novel virus, COVID-19. This is in light of many denturism patients falling into the most vulnerable patient groups.
We will be rescheduling patients whose appointments will be affected by the closure.
Please rest assured that our regular cleaning, sanitization and air purification procedures are surgical grade and will continue upon our return to the office.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we hope that you stay safe and healthy.
We look forward to seeing you all again upon reopening on April 6th, 2019.
For denturism emergencies, please do not hesitate to leave a voicemail on our answering machine. The answering machine will be monitored regularly.

SAY NO TO SUPER GLUE!

When a denture cracks or breaks, it always seems to do so at the most inconvenient of times - just as you're walking out the door, in the middle of your work day, before a big event where you will of course be smiling. When we need things done quickly, we often think to ourselves "I can fix this no problem, nothing a little super glue can't fix."

WRONG!

Super glue does NOT fix dentures, rather it ruins the integrity of the materials of the denture forever.

Although we see it as a quick fix, something that will not last forever, using super glue makes it harder to permanently fix the denture. Dentures are commonly made from acrylic. Rather than binding the two broken pieces together, like the way we intended, super glue melts the acrylic and creates a bond that way. In order for the Denturist to properly repair the denture, he or she must first remove the super glue from the acrylic and try to make the repair from this now deformed acrylic denture.

Did we not mention before that the scientific name for super glue is "cyanoacrylate adhesive". Sounds a little like cyanide to us!

We recommend that you do not use super glue on anything that you eat or drink from, that includes things you put in your mouth - like DENTURES!
