There is usually minimal pain following a root canal. Yes, you heard that right. The pain from the root canal itself is minimal and has to do with inflammation that is caused during the cleaning process of the root canal system.
To treat: take an anti-inflammatory medication following a root canal. We recommend taking Ibuprofen (Advil), 600 mg every 6 hours (maximum dose). That is the same as 3 regular strength (200mg) Advil. If that alone doesn’t cut it, then add 2 extra strength Tylenol and alternate with the Advil every 4 hours.
