Paul Revere is best known for his midnight ride during the American Revolutionary War, but did you know he also played an important role in the early history of forensic dentistry.

Early Prosthetics: Using his metalworking skills, he carved false teeth from animal bone or walrus ivory and wired them into patients’ mouths using silver.

In 1776, Revere identified the body of his friend Dr. Joseph Warren after the Battle of Bunker Hill. Warren had been buried in a mass grave, but after searching through the grave, Revere recognized a dental appliance he had made for him years earlier. This is considered one of the first recorded cases of dental identification in American history and helped lay the foundation for modern forensic dentistry.

Is your big day around the corner? You want to look perfect for the wedding season. Apart from finding the perfect dress and haircut, your smile should be a priority. It’ll ensure you look confident when talking to people and stunning in photos. Here’s how to get your smile ready for wedding day!

One of the quickest ways to enhance your smile is with teeth whitening. Teeth can become stained because of the foods you eat and drink, medications you may be taking, or the natural yellowing that comes with age. Professional whitening is the best way to remove built-up stains or yellowing.

If you have chipped, cracked, or misaligned teeth, consult with a cosmetic dentist about options like porcelain veneers, dental bonding, or clear aligners well in advance.Having a white, straight, flawless smile will give you the confidence you need to smile big and bright on your special day.

There will be no regrets as you look back over your wedding photos, only beautiful, happy smiles and happy memories. So, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and we hope it will be everything you dreamed it would be!

Before we talk about specific dental benefits, here’s what’s inside a single cup (152g) of fresh strawberries.

Vitamin C: ~89 mg - nearly 100% of your recommended daily intake. This is the most critical nutrient for gum tissue health, as we’ll explain shortly.

Malic Acid: a naturally occurring organic acid with documented surface stain-removing properties on tooth enamel.

Ellagitannins: bioactive polyphenols including agrimoniin and casuarictin, with clinically confirmed anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity.

Dietary Fibre: ~3g - stimulates saliva production, your mouth’s natural acid-buffering and bacteria-flushing system.

Anthocyanins: powerful antioxidants that reduce oral inflammation.

Manganese, Folate, Potassium: micronutrients supporting tissue repair and immune defence.

The combination of these compounds makes strawberries genuinely multi-functional for oral health. Strawberries are low in sugar compared to most popular fruits, giving them a lower inherent risk of contributing to tooth decay. As a bonus, strawberries are a natural whitener for teeth. Helping keep your smile shining bright!

If you have ever wondered why certain teeth fall out first, it is because baby teeth usually fall out in the same order they came in.

The bottom front teeth are usually the first to go, followed by the top front teeth. It’s a pattern that helps make room for adult teeth.

Most babies will develop teeth between 6 and 12 months. There is a wide range of variability of when a first tooth may appear—some babies may not have any teeth by their first birthday! Around 3 months of age, babies will begin exploring the world with their mouth and have increased saliva and start to put their hands in their mouth.

Many parents question whether or not this means that their baby is teething, but a first tooth usually appears around 6 months old. Typically, the first teeth to come in are almost always the lower front teeth (the lower central incisors), and most children will usually have all of their baby teeth by age 3.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing public knowledge about cancers of the mouth, throat, and lips. It highlights the importance of early detection, regular dental screenings, and risk reduction, as early diagnosis significantly improves survival rates. Key risks include to***co, alcohol, HPV, and sun exposure.

Key Aspects of Oral Cancer Awareness Month

Early Detection Saves Lives: Prompt treatment is crucial, as oral cancer can spread to the head and neck. Regular screenings by dentists are the best way to catch it early.

Symptoms to Monitor: Individuals should look for sores in the mouth that do not heal, persistent red or white patches, and lumps on the tongue, throat, or lips.

Primary Risk Factors:Tobacco and Alcohol: Smoking, chewing to***co, and heavy alcohol consumption are leading causes. Being aware of the warning signs of oral cancer and understanding the risk factors are crucial steps in preventing and detecting this disease early. Regular dental check-ups, avoiding to***co and excessive alcohol, and taking preventive measures can significantly reduce your risk. Early detection and treatment can save lives.
