A root canal is a treatment used to save a tooth when the soft tissue inside it becomes inflamed or infected.

During treatment, the affected tissue is removed before the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned, filled and sealed. A filling or crown may then be recommended to protect the tooth and restore its function.

Not every toothache means you need a root canal. The only way to know what is causing your symptoms is through a dental examination.

If you’re experiencing persistent tooth pain, lingering sensitivity or discomfort when chewing, contact Swanavon Dental to book an assessment.

HYGIENEMAXXING: Smile Edition 🦷

A healthier smile doesn't come from one big change. It comes from the small habits you stick with every day.

Brush for two minutes. Floss daily. Clean your tongue. Stay hydrated. Keep up with your routine hygiene appointments.

These simple steps help prevent cavities, protect your gums, and keep your smile looking and feeling its best for years to come.

Healthy smiles aren't built overnight. They're built one routine at a time.

What's one oral care habit you never skip? Tell us in the comments! 👇

Not everyone’s gonna like this.

1. Your gums bleed when you brush or floss.
Bleeding isn’t normal. It’s often one of the earliest signs of gum inflammation and a good indicator that it’s time for a professional cleaning.

2. Your teeth don’t feel smooth anymore.
If your teeth feel rough or fuzzy by the end of the day, plaque and tartar may be building up in places your toothbrush can’t reach.

3. Your breath isn’t as fresh as it used to be.
Persistent bad breath isn’t always about what you ate. It can be caused by bacteria hiding below the gumline that only a cleaning can remove.

4. It’s been more than six months since your last visit.
Even if your teeth feel fine, plaque hardens into tartar over time, and that can’t be removed at home.

5. You’re avoiding flossing because your gums are sensitive.
Tender or swollen gums are often a sign they need attention, not a reason to avoid them. A cleaning can help get your oral health back on track.

Your smile deserves more than a quick brush. If any of these sound familiar, it might be time to book your next dental cleaning.

When we said it was time for a cleaning... this wasn’t exactly what we meant. 😂

A professional dental cleaning helps remove plaque and tartar, keeps your gums healthy, and can help prevent cavities before they become bigger problems.

We’re currently welcoming new patients and we’d love to help keep your smile healthy, not your floors spotless.

Book your dental cleaning today and let our team take care of the right kind of cleaning.
