BIOCLEAR IN ESPAÑA. Madrid is olive oil, ham, and wine. I’m convinced civilization began the moment someone realized bread could be dipped in oil and eaten. From sunrise to well past midnight, the city surges with life; waves of people moving through narrow streets, each step a near miss in a chaotic, beautiful dance. When the sun goes down, everything shifts. The plazas glow, the air cools, and Madrid becomes intimate, a softer pulse beneath the neon and stone.
If you’re lucky enough to befriend a local, you’ll see the Madrid that never makes it onto tourist maps. No bus route leads to the tiny shop in Plaza Mayor serving the best battered cod you’ll ever taste. And no guidebook tells you about the ancient cave where food was once kept cool, now home to the most humble, perfect sautéed mushrooms you can imagine.
Every plaza is guarded by marble witnesses: kings, poets, gods carved in stone. They remind you that here, history is not just remembered; it’s lived. Parks bloom with flowers and fountains, and even the birds seem to know they’re part of the show.
There wasn’t much time for sightseeing. Four out of five days were dedicated to teaching Bioclear certification courses to an extraordinary group of dentists: solo practitioners, professors, future speakers. The room buzzed with curiosity and camaraderie. Over good food and shared laughter, strangers became colleagues, and colleagues became friends. By the end, everyone wished for one more day.
It’s been an adventure. Without the photos on my phone, I might wonder a week from now if it really happened. I’m grateful to my family at home and my team at work, for their support makes this all possible. It’s good to be home.
