He sponsors the KILLARNEY FOOT PATROL- this is a volunteer group of community members who patrol the area on foot to make sure there is no unwanted activities taking place. The patrol also volunteers their services for many various venues around the city. For a few years now, Dr. Fika has been one of the sponsors For THE EDMONTON WHEELCHAIR RUGBY CLUB. They are holding a tournament on January 11 to 12,2014. This group comprises of various levels of wheelchair bound individuals who are amazing to watch in this event. For the past 3 years Dr. Fika has sponsored a classroom of 4th grade students, who otherwise would never have the opportunity to attend a hockey game. The event is put on by THE EDMONTON OIL KINGS and is called HOCKEY HOOKY. It is on January 28th, 2014 at 11:00 AM and children from all over Alberta get to attend this hockey game and miss school. This will be the first year that Dr. Fika will be able to sponsor 4 classrooms and chaperones. Dr. Fika also buys all the kids 2 sponge hockey pucks each to throw on the ice at the end of the 2nd period to be able to win a prize. The staff usually takes the day off and attends this event every year.
