A couple of weeks ago, we had some very special visitors stop by Smile Haven Family Dental 🦉🦅

The education ambassadors from Observatory: Keith the Red-tailed Hawk and Tansi the Great Horned Owl (complete with her magnificent “murder mittens”) came by to teach our team about these incredible birds and the important work being done to care for and protect them ✨

Keith was rehabilitated after an accident and is blind in one eye, but despite everything he’s been through, he is truly the sweetest guy ♥️

There were lots of laughs, a few cautious side-eyes, and Jazz even conquered her fear of birds and held Keith!

A huge thank you for the unforgettable visit and for all the amazing work you do rescuing birds and educating the community about these beautiful creatures 🤍

She was 25.
Healthy. No “typical” risk factors.
And still—oral cancer.
What started as a small change became a journey of surgery, reconstruction, and radiation. A journey that changed everything.

Today… she’s on the other side of it.
And yes—she kicked oral cancer’s ass. 🤍

Tyra is now part of our team at Smile Haven, and her story is a powerful reminder of why what we do matters so much.
Oral cancer doesn’t always hurt.
It doesn’t always look obvious.
And it doesn’t only affect those you’d expect.

That’s why every visit at Smile Haven includes a thorough oral cancer screening—looking at both soft and hard tissues. It’s quick, comfortable, and could make all the difference.

Tyra is also turning her experience into something meaningful—hosting her annual Head & Neck Cancer Fundraising Social to raise awareness and support research in our community.
