Dr. Nader Hamdan, BDS, MSc, Dent-Perio, FRCDC, FDS RCPS(Glasg) is Consultant in Periodontology and Dental Implantology and Head of the Dental Department at Queen Hospital in Doha, Qatar. Dr. Hamdan served for many years as an associate professor in the division of periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University (Canada). Dr. Hamdan obtained his BDS (DDS) degree in 1999 from Jordan Unive
rsity of Science and Technology, practised general dentistry for 12 years before pursuing an MSc in dental sciences program at McGill University (Canada), which he completed in 2013. Dr. Hamdan's research at McGill focused on the differences in the dietary intake between mandibular complete denture wearers vs those wearing two-implant overdentures. The findings of this research were published in the Journal of Dental Research​ special supplement on dental implantology. Dr. Hamdan went on to complete a three-year fully accredited MDent Periodontics program at the University of Manitoba (Canada). His research looked at the upregulation of one of the novel potential biomarkers within the gingival crevicular fluid of patients suffering from moderate-severe periodontal disease. In 2016, Dr. Hamdan obtained his second master’s degree - a Master in Dentistry (Specialty: Periodontics), passed both components of the Canadian National Dental Specialty Examination and was certified as a periodontist and later became Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC). Besides his academic full-time position, Dr. Hamdan treats his own patients in a part-time private practice limited to periodontics. Dr. Hamdan enjoys lecturing and sharing knowledge with his colleagues through giving CDE courses and has many peer-reviewed publications in addition to co-authoring book chapters and books.
