Sticky fruit snacks, juice boxes, and granola bars tend to cling to teeth and feed cavity-causing bacteria all afternoon. Swapping in cheese, yogurt, crunchy veggies, and water helps rinse and protect enamel between brushings.

You don't have to be perfect. Just aim for a few tooth-friendly swaps and a water bottle in every bag.

The trouble is, cavities, gum disease, and even cracked teeth often cause no pain until they're advanced. By the time it hurts, the fix is usually bigger and more expensive. Regular checkups catch small problems while they're still small.
