If your dentist recommends a procedure or treatment you don’t fully understand, it’s completely okay to ask questions before moving forward. Understanding your dental care helps you make informed and confident decisions about your oral health.

You can ask things like:
• Why is this treatment needed?
• What will happen during the procedure?
• What are the risks of waiting or not treating it?
• How long is the recovery process?

Taking notes or bringing someone with you to the appointment can also make it easier to remember important information.

Your dental team wants you to feel comfortable, informed, and confident in your treatment plan. Asking questions is an important part of taking care of your smile. 😁

The EMS AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master and the Guided Biofilm Therapy.
One of the benefits of the AIRFLOW® system is the water is heated to 40 degrees Celsius which has proven to be perfect for those with very sensitive teeth, making the cleaning process so much more comfortable.
As well as removing stains, AIRFLOW® can be used for many different treatment types including: cleaning orthodontic brackets, dentures and implants. The specially formulated powder formula removes stains with ease, all without damaging the soft tissue or implants.
Guided Biofilm Therapy is a very logical and efficient approach in Dental cleaning and maintenance. It is estimated that 1mm of dental plaque contains more than 200 million bacteria! If left untreated, the bacteria can spread and develop biofilm. Biofilm is a colony of bacteria that can cause gum disease and challenge your body’s immune defences.
Our dental hygienist will apply a coloured dye to your teeth which reveals any plaque and biofilm present giving you an educational demonstration on how to effectively care for your teeth and gums at home to help minimize plaque (Biofilm) build-up. This is a great visual and motivational tool which will show you which areas you’re missing and which areas you need to spend a little more time cleaning at home.
AIRFLOW® will remove the coloured dye as well as plaque and any stains. This is a big step in helping you prevent and treat gingivitis (gum disease) and periodontitis.
The use of AIRFLOW® prior minimizes the amount of time in which an ultrasonic scaling for calculus removal is needed, making the process quicker and more comfortable.
So now you can see why we’re so excited here at Kucey Dental Group to have this wonderful system to help our patients. You can now experience stain-free, clean teeth with much less discomfort.

Why are your teeth sensitive to hot or cold?

Tooth sensitivity happens when the protective enamel wears down or gums recede, exposing the inner layer of your tooth. Common causes include:

• Brushing too hard
• Teeth grinding
• Cavities or cracks
• Gum recession
• Whitening products

If sipping coffee or eating ice cream makes you wince, your teeth may be trying to tell you something. The good news? Sensitivity can often be treated with the right dental care and products.

Don’t ignore the signs, your smile deserves attention 💙
