Happy Pride 2021,
Jade writing to you all today!
For many that arenât aware, itâs Pride Month. For the month of June itâs normally a month where the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is centered, recognized, celebrated, grieved, and acknowledged for their identities.
You most commonly have seen rainbow flags marker the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. To marker inclusivity the pride flag has evolved to now become the Progress Pride Flag highlighting People of Colour (BIPOC) with the brown and black colours, along side the Transgender Flag (white, pink, blue).
At Pearl we want to acknowledge all the folx who cannot be out and celebrating pride. That the many layers in our society prevent many people from being able to access this month and simply be who they wish to be without judgement, societal repercussions, or concern for their safety. For the majority of individuals, this might not something you consider, but for many Q***r folx, this is their reality. We see you, we are with you, and we will always strive to be a safe(r) space to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
In professional communities, it is not something readily claimed to be apart of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Many businesses unfortunately use âRainbow Capitalismâ to promote their brands in being inclusive to access new clients, or to use as PR for self gain.
So today, we make this post to not only educate, but to also say to the potential 2SLGBTQIA+ community that is reading that Pearl Denture & Implant Centre is owned and operated by Jade ConnorsâŚ. An openly q***r, non-binary, femme of colour (QTBIPOC)
Coming into a public light as a QTBIPOC person might send a few people into having reactions, but, the thing is:
It doesnât change anything about the way Iâve always been practicing and creating beautiful smiles for my patients all these years.
What it does change is the ability for other Q***r, Transgender, and or BIPOC people to simply see the work and attitudes done at Pearl Denture & Implant Centre. To know the attitudes, cultures, and experiences with these identities, and know I hold space for them in how my clinic was created and formed.
Pearl Denture & Implant Centre is, and will always be a space that the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is welcome to, and doesnât tolerate any discrimination to anyone in our space.
Everyone deserves to eat, smile, and have self confidence in their dentures.
To our many Q***r patients already in our practice, we celebrate you today and thank you for sharing apart of your shine in our clinic. To marker Pride 2021, we will be using our progress pride flag for the month of June.
Happy Pride!
With colourful love,
The Pearl Denture Team
