Just had a dental implant placed? What you eat during healing matters.

Here are 5 foods to avoid while your implant heals:

1. Crunchy foods, like chips and popcorn
2. Hard foods, like nuts and ice
3. Sticky foods, like caramel or chewy candy
4. Spicy foods, which can irritate the surgical site
5. Extremely hot foods and drinks, especially in the first 24 hours, as they can increase bleeding and discomfort

For the best healing, choose soft, nutritious foods and follow your post-operative instructions closely. A little extra care now helps set your dental implant up for long-term success.

We invite you to experience care led by specialists.

Your gums may be telling you more about your health than you think.

Research increasingly shows a connection between gum disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists have found the bacterium most associated with advanced gum disease, Porphyromonas gingivalis, in the brain tissue of people with Alzheimer’s. Large population studies have also found that people with gum disease are more likely to develop dementia later in life.

Researchers are still working to understand whether gum disease directly contributes to Alzheimer’s or whether the two share common risk factors. What is clear is that chronic inflammation in the mouth doesn’t stay in the mouth.

This is why regular dental hygiene visits matter. Gum disease often develops quietly, without pain, until it’s advanced. Professional cleanings remove hardened tartar that brushing and flossing can’t, and routine exams catch early signs of gum disease while they’re still easy to treat.

Protecting your gums is one of the simplest, most proactive steps you can take for your long-term health.

We invite you to experience care led by specialists.

Treatment Completed: Crown Lengthening with Upper and Lower Anterior Crowns

This patient presented with spacing between the front teeth, uneven edges, and a noticeable difference in shade from one tooth to the next. Individually, each concern is subtle. Together, they drew the eye away from the smile as a whole.

Crowns alone would not have achieved the balance this smile needed. Crown lengthening was performed first to refine the gum line and establish proper tooth proportions, giving each restoration an ideal foundation. From there, the upper and lower front crowns were designed to close the spacing, even out the edges, and bring every tooth into a single, cohesive shade.

The result is a smile that reads as natural and harmonious, with proportions that suit the face and gum contours that frame each tooth with precision.

This is what advanced restorative dentistry looks like.

We are excited to introduce our newest associate prosthodontist Dr. Alisha Amlani✨

What is a prosthodontist? In this video, Dr. Amlani explains.

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist focused on restoring and replacing teeth. After dental school, prosthodontists complete 3 additional years of specialty training focused on rebuilding smiles, from a single tooth to a full-mouth reconstruction.

That includes:
β€’ Crowns, bridges, and veneers
β€’ Dental implants
β€’ Dentures and implant-supported teeth
β€’ Complex full-mouth rehabilitation

When your smile needs more than a simple fix, this is the specialist to see.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Amlani to the team!

What shape should your veneers or crowns be? Honestly, there’s no single right answer. The shape that looks natural on one person can look completely off on another.

A few things I look at: the shape of your face, your lip line when you smile, your age, and even your personality. Softer, rounder edges tend to read as more youthful and feminine. Squarer, flatter edges come across as stronger and more masculine. Most people land somewhere in between.

The mistake I see most often is copying a shape from a photo of someone else. Your teeth need to fit your face, not theirs. If you’re thinking about veneers or crowns, this is one of the first conversations we should have.

Treatment Completed: Orthodontics, Crown Lengthening, and Dental Crowns

This case is a clear example of why sequence matters as much as skill in dentistry.

The patient presented with spacing between the front teeth, an uneven gum line, and short clinical crowns that left the smile looking disproportionate. Restorations alone would not have solved it. Placed over poorly positioned teeth and an irregular gingival architecture, even beautiful porcelain would have looked out of place.

So the work was staged. Orthodontics first, to move the teeth into their proper positions and create a foundation the dental crowns could be built upon. Crown lengthening next, performed to establish a level, harmonious gum line and reveal the full natural proportion of each tooth. Only then were the final dental crowns placed, from second premolar to second premolar across the upper arch.

The result is a smile with balanced proportions, a symmetrical gum line, and crowns that sit in harmony with the tissue supporting them. Coordinated, specialist-led planning is what made this outcome possible.

This is what advanced restorative dentistry looks like.

The appointment you keep delaying could be the one saving you money.

When nothing hurts, a dental visit rarely feels urgent. But most dental problems don’t announce themselves. They develop quietly, over months or years, and by the time discomfort appears, the simplest solution has often passed.

A cavity caught early may need only a filling. Left alone, that same tooth can require root canal therapy, a crown, or eventually extraction and the need for replacement. A small crack or an aging filling may not bother you today, yet checking it early is what allows us to protect your natural tooth before more damage occurs. Even a little bleeding when brushing is worth attention, because early gum changes are far easier to reverse than advanced ones.

This is the real value of regular hygiene and maintenance appointments. They’re about identifying small changes before they become larger, costlier ones, and preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible along the way.

We invite you to experience care led by specialists.

Dental treatment is about more than the final result. The way you’re cared for along the journey matters just as much, and we’ve built our practice around that belief.

Here are 3 things that shape an exceptional patient experience at Vivid:

β€’ A team of specialists, working together. With prosthodontists, periodontists, and other specialists collaborating under one roof, even the most complex treatments are coordinated seamlessly, without the back-and-forth of being referred elsewhere.

β€’ An in-house dental laboratory. When our dental technicians and specialists work side by side, the result is precise communication, fully customized restorations, and meticulous attention to detail at every stage.

β€’ A comfort-focused experience. From advanced technology and comfort options to open, honest communication, every detail of the patient journey is designed to help you feel relaxed, informed, and cared for, from your first visit to your final result.

We don’t simply restore smiles. We create an experience you can feel confident about, every step of the way.

We invite you to experience care led by specialists.
