🎃🍭 Halloween Candy: What’s Actually Hard on Your Teeth?

Not all candy affects your teeth the same way! 👀🦷

🍫 Chocolate: Generally easier to wash away than sticky candy.
🍬 Sticky candy: Can cling to teeth and keep sugar around longer.
🍭 Hard candy: Takes longer to dissolve and can even crack or chip a tooth if you bite it.
🍋 Sour candy: Often contains acids that can contribute to enamel erosion.
🍿 Popcorn: Watch out for hard kernels and those sneaky hulls stuck between your teeth!

The good news? You don’t have to skip Halloween treats altogether. 🎃 Enjoy them in moderation, drink plenty of water, and keep up with your brushing and flossing routine!

Have a happy (and tooth-friendly) Halloween from all of us at Sky Dental! 👻🦷

💧 Why does my mouth feel dry all the time?

That constant dry, sticky feeling isn’t always just because you need a glass of water!

Dry mouth can be linked to dehydration, mouth breathing, certain medications, caffeine, stress, smoking, or va**ng.

And saliva is VERY important for your oral health! 🦷✨ It helps wash away food particles, neutralize acids, protect your enamel, and lower your risk of cavities.

If your mouth feels dry often or persistently, let your dentist know. There may be an underlying cause that’s worth checking.

💙 Stay hydrated, keep up with your oral hygiene, and don’t ignore persistent dry mouth!

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | September 30

Today, we pause to remember the children who never returned home, honour residential school survivors, and recognize the lasting impact on Indigenous families and communities.

Truth comes from learning and listening. Reconciliation calls on all of us to reflect, understand, and take meaningful steps toward a more respectful and inclusive future.

Today and every day, we honour Indigenous voices, cultures, languages, and communities.

🧡 Every Child Matters.

Google can give you 100 possible diagnosis… but it can’t examine your teeth. 😅🦷

If you’re experiencing facial swelling, severe tooth pain, persistent bleeding, a broken or knocked-out tooth, or pain when biting, don’t wait it out or rely on a search result.
Some dental problems can worsen quickly, and getting assessed early can make treatment easier. 🫶

🚨 Dental emergency? Contact your dentist or seek urgent care as soon as possible.
Save this post for when you need it — and remember: when it comes to your teeth, don’t Google & ignore. Get it checked!
